Clarification re drum life and toner April 27, 2010

Just a minor point of correction to the previous review that addresses the distinction between the DRUM units and the TONER cartridges: first, when you purchase the printer, it arrives with 4 drum units that ALREADY HAVE "STARTER" TONER CARTRIDGES IN THEM. This may be lead to some of the confusion, but, yes, they are distinctly separate products. Second, the previous review indicates that the drum units are good for "5,000" pages and that you would therefore replace the toner cartridges 3 times before replacing the drum. In point of fact, the drum life is rated at "15,000" pages. Consequently, you would replace the toner 8-9 times IF you use the TN-160 toner product --rated at 1,600 pages-- or closer to 6-7 times if you use the more economical TN-210 product which is rated for 2,100 pages.

Quite simply: The Brother color laser printers have a separate drum (DR) for each of the four toner (TN)cartridges. The toner cartridges fit into the drums. The drums should last for 5,000 pages, but the toner cartridges are rated for 1,600 pages so you will have to replace the toner cartridges about three times before the drum unit needs to be replaced. The Brother printers clearly state the toner cartridge and drum part numbers that they use.
If the part number didn't tip off the previous reviewer, the price of the Drums should have. A set of 4 toner cartridges lists for $285, although you can purchase them on Amazon for around $200. The 4 drums are sold as a set and cost $104 on Amazon.
I just bought the Brother 9120 printer and it uses these cartridges. I also just ordered an extra set of the toner cartridges from Amazon and they arrived yesterday. The print looks great so the printer, drums and toner cartridges are all working together well.

Resently I purchased two set of the item listed below. They were shipped by Antonline. I thought that these were sets of ink cartridges for a new brother Printer that I purchase. The discription with a list of colors lead me to beleive that they actually had ink in them. To my great suprise they are only the drums that hold the ink cartridges and have no ink in them.
I contacted Antonline to return these for the right product (ink cartridges)and was told that these are not a returnable or exchange item. I told them that they had not left there packaging and that all we wanted to do is exchange them for ink, which is what we thought we were ordering. They refuse to do anything. A supervisor told me that he would talk to the RMA manager and that I would receive a email within two hours. Three days later I recieved an email stating that they would not refund or exchange the items. So I called again and asked to speak to a supervisor this time they said please hold on and hung up on me. Maybe I'm stupid but when the discription says 1 Black, 1 Cyan, 1 Megenta, 1 Yellow, makes me think there is ink in it?
DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR INK CARTRIDGES!!!!!

My 1st experience in purchasing from Amazon was great. I purchase a Kindle for my wife and she loves it, but with this experience I will not be re-purchasing from this web-site or anyothers associated with this this web site
Hopefully they will get enough bad reviews to make them change their policies on returning or exchanging items that people were mislead in purchasing.
